Arruabarrena and Sorribes win and approach Indian Wells

The Guipuzcoan won the Tunisian Ons Jabeur in three sets and the Castellon beat the American Kiick to advance to the next round of the previous one.

Lara Arruabarrena and Sara Sorribes started their adventure with victory in the preliminary stage of the Indian Mandates Premier Mandatory to enter the final table of the Californian tournament through one of the six places awarded by the qualifying phase.

Arruabarrena went to the three sets with the Tunisian Ons Jabeur, who beat 6-2, 2-6 and 6-4 in one hour and 53 minutes. The Gipuzkoa made good use of their percentages with the first and second serve against Jabeur, who took advantage of all the break points he had. Arruabarrena, sixth seed of the previous one, will now face the American Kristie Ahn, who beat the Canadian Carols Zhao by 4-6, 7-6 (2) and 6-2

Sara Sorribes suffered even more to seal her pass to the next round of the previous one. The Castellon overtook the American Allie Kiick 6-2, 4-6 and 6-4 in two hours and 42 minutes of the game. Sorribes was solid in the first round although Kiick stood him up in the second, taking the match a third set where the Castellón defended his best position in the ranking. Sorribes will face the Australian Ajla Tomljanovic in the next phase, who swept the Colombian Mariana Duque by a convincing 6-3 and 6-0.
