All about the rules of the All-Star draft

The NBA is radically changing the way the All-Star game is played this year, with captains LeBron James and Stephen Curry choosing playground-style teams. What are the rules, when will it happen and how will it work? Here are some simple common questions to explain how this will develop.
Q: Who receives the first selection?
A: James got the most votes among the fans, so he will get the first election. He must choose between the other eight starters who were selected for the game. Apart from James and Curry, the headlines are: Kyrie Irving, DeMar DeRozan, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, James Harden, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins. All holders must be selected before choosing reservations. Then these eight types will be the first selections.
Q: What about the reservations?
A: Curry chooses first and James continues, until everyone has chosen seven. In other words, Curry will get the No. 8 for the last starter and the no. 9 for the first reserve, while James will receive selections 7 and 10.
Q: Who receives the last selection?
A: Technically, James gets the last selection in the All Star Draft, but effectively, Curry will decide who James stays with in the No. 22 because it will take the selection no. 21, leaving James with the last player.
Q: Will James snatch Irving?
A: If I were him, I would take Durant with my first choice, but James will have his own reasons. The draft will not be televised and the league will not provide draft order. On the other hand, few things remain secret in the NBA. With Curry as the starting point guard for his team, it makes sense for Irving to end up on James’ team. We’ll see.
Q: Why will not it be televised?
A: Commissioner Adam Silver said he does not want to put captains in a “compromising position” by televising him. It could create the kind of drama that sometimes happens in the drafts when a player is left unselected, which is what the fans want to see.
Can James and Curry make exchanges?
R: Officially? No. But unofficially, you could certainly agree that certain players are grouped.
Q: Will players wear uniforms that say “Team LeBron” or “Team Stephen”?
A: No, they will wear special All-Star uniforms with their team’s logo. One team will wear white, while the other team will wear black.
